So, I am thinking I need something sturdy, with plenty of space on the left side, as deep as I can and with room underneath for storage. Has anyone tried the hollow door on filing cabinet method? My husband is thinking a piece of plywood for the top might also work (I'm concerned about the rough finish of plywood). Any suggestions or other features I should be thinking about? Thanks so much! My first post...so exciting!!!
I have used a hollow door for almost 10 years now. I bought the huge size cutting mat, the plastic one, and it fits nicely on the door and leaves me the exact room I need on the end of the door for my machine. It is on top of an old wooden computer desk that was missing it's top part. The door is wonderful, try it. It is also light enough to move it by yourself, if needed. Also, the door is there to hold a large sized quilt that would normally be hanging off the table.
