I would recommend that you not buy cheap fabric - look at the sales at your LQS - those fabrics will serve you well. My LQS has a customer appreciation day - last year I bought 85 yards of fabric for under $200.00. The fabric is good quality and washes beautifully. I will get LOTS of quilts from that buy. If you like scrappy then buy fat quarters so you get a wide variety of fabric.
