If you like scrappy quilts, you can also look into recycling garments. There's quite a bit of fabric in a man's XL long sleeve shirt. Check your local thrift shop, or ask friends & relatives to save them rather than throwing them out. Just check the tags for fabric content so you know what you are getting.
I also agree that stash just builds the longer you have the hobby.
