This is such a great idea, would like to make a table runner using 3 blocks. Am I correct in my thinking that you need to cut out 2 blocks before you can do any of the neat placement of pieces? Please someone help this stupid person. And the size of the 4 squares put together. Thanks
The first section you cut off will be smaller, because it isn't a true HST ... might be a quarter square triangle ...
You need to cut four times in order to have enought HST to make a complete block.
you are not stupid ... you just aren't sure if what you are doing is correct.
The size of the square depends on how wide your third strip is - - your third strip is equal to the size of the two strips.
If you sew two strips at 2.5" together, then it will measure 4.5"
add the third strip, do the cuts - - and the measurement will be 4.5" minus 7/8 of an inch ... I think <g>
