Astilbe is one of my favorites and I finally found a place and a method that it likes!! Some morning sun, up against a bright background so it gets lots of light but not direct hot sun, plant it IN the pot with the bottom of the pot cut out to trap moisture, and about 5" of good mulch around the base. Now I'm on a mission to collect more sizes and more colors to fill this particular garden bed.
