The veneer can be patched. I've done that several times. If I had a spare old top with a good corner I might try to graft in a piece to keep from having to replace the whole thing. But, a new top would sure be easier.

Yep, it can..trying to talk the spousal unit into patching instead of replacing the whole sheet of veneer. I don't think I'm going to get around replacing that wood top tho...and it will probably be easier than patching together something just on that corner.
