So...I couldn't stand it anymore and got the electrical tape out and taped up the breaks in the power cords for the 206K.
The spousal unit had to "check my work", and I got a "that'll do for a test run, I'll get the new cords tomorrow"
(he'd been ignoring this one because he wasn't happy that I brought it home.)
She *is* a little noisy, but not enough so to discourage me from using her...makes lovely stitches, and runs like a race car....fast! (or slow, but this girl can "pick em up and put em down"!!)
All in all...I'm pleased!
