I agree with JBug. Invisable thread is a thin thread but it's stiff and somewhat sticky. Because it's thin, logic says to tighten the tension. Because it's stiff it doesn't go down to the hook and make the loop easily, and sticky so it drags through the tension discs, so loosen the tension.
