I also love paper piecing and use regular printing paper with short stitch but have started to fold all my papers before sewing this means I don't have to use my little cardboard each time to trim as the fold is there and I just have to trim to my 1/4" and carry on to the next piece. I saw this way mentioned on the board here and thought to try it, really great tip.
