After WWII our government rebuilt the Axis powers to the detriment of our own industry. To compete our industry had to go to the disposable cheap products .... or so they thought.

It's the same thing as car parts makers giving life time guarantees on break parts and other things. The number of people who actually take advantage of the gimmick is relatively low. But for those who do, .... oh happy days
