I had been given some plastic hexes, and used them as templates to cut out paper hexes (on card stock). I also bought a piece of fabric at Hobby Lobby that was a hexagon print, with about 15-20 different variations of color and designs. I cut all the hexes out and separated them in stacks according to their respective patterns of print, and used them to make my flowers. The various prints were all color coordinated, so I did not have to shop for individual fabrics. That saved a lot of time and money, and there was very little waste. Then I bought some green and white fabrics to make my walk ways and borders. I used a pattern from one of my quilting magazines to piece it. I had just retired and was able to devote a lot of time to it. This is the first hand pieced quilt I have made. I have several quilt tops made, but I need to get busy and quilt them. I am not sure if I am going to machine quilt or hand quilt this one.
