You asked about the knob on the right of the ZZ knob. On yours that knob does lock in the width. It doesn't more the knob, only locks it. Try moving and holding the ZZ lever in position with the left hand and locking it with the right hand. On mine the right knob picks the pattern, as the cams have four patterns on each cam.
Those cams sure look familiar. I'll check.

I figured that knob locks the zig zag width, but no it is frozen solid! I can't budge it either way! I also can't budge the feed dog drop button. It is fozen in the 'sew' position. I doubt anyone ever dropped those feed dogs!
