The problem with rebuilding tensions is this: someone may have tried and put one little part back in wrong and gave up. You will need to know/find out which direction some of it goes or learn to be intuitive about those tensions. A manual helps if you have the exact machine/tension type. Pay attention to how the check spring is suppose to go. Some of the odd machines can be a puzzle until they work. Tammi has a good tutorial on her blog about tensions. A lot of times just cleaning off dried up oil helps the tensions to work a whole lot better.
