Thanks again Judy. When I first saw it I thought that the top part had been rubbed off completely. What a surprise when I rubbed in a little Singer oil and the decals and Japan appeared! Definitely no need for new ones, I'll just touch them up. I think they're just lovely, and the lotus is my other favourite.

I'm really pleased looking at your photos to see how well your machines have cleaned up. So much of the grime on machines turns out to be superficial, and decals don't have to be perfect. Often a slightly beaten up machine means that it has been used a lot, which in turn means it's a good runner. I think it is such a shame so many machines just aren't used because they are old.
