Thanks Muv, I wouldn't have thought of rubbing sewing machine oil on them to get rid of the dirt. It's very effective, and I bought some silver polish for the nickel plates yesterday. What a difference that makes, too. Thanks for your tips: You've enabled a lot of people to remove the grime veil.
