Miriam, was that case made from a treadle cabinet cover? My VS2 was in a coffin case too but it was obviously originally a treadle. The base of the "carry case" was the treadle top and has the belt holes. Even in the days when women were real women (etc) I can't imagine there'd be many people who would seriously expect anyone to carry such a thing.
