The power (watts) is what you need to compare. Multiply Volts by Amps and get the power of the motor. In your case, it's enormous. Are you sure it's not 0.1A? 1A would mean it's a 240W motor, which would make it physically larger than an average one The standard Singer motor is about 20-30W.
