I bought my 6500 about 6 years ago new at the 4th if July sale for $650. It is a workhorse but mine has a few weak spots. The bobbin winder hasn't worked for the past few years and one of the spool holders just broke off about 4 years ago. I chose not to spend the cost of repairs and continue to use this machine daily.
