the brown looks better. I was once told to think of the border as the mat and frame for your quilt. If you try to match the mat to the picture, one's eye will travel back and forth between the mat and the artwork looking for a match. By selecting something more nutral, one stays focused on the art. The second selection is too harsh a contrast and looks like a black line has been drawn between the blockwork and the border print. the first selection acts more like a transition step picking up some of the color of the blockwork yet also takes a nod to the pattern of the border. nice fabric! you have a good eye!
