Your dresses are lovely. I have done many with my sisters' church, and they are so easy we have taught several non-sewers to make them. While they can be made from pillowcases I prefer to make the pillowcases from my stash so i know the fabric will hold up well, and is much prettier. Little Dresses For Africa (LDFA) sends the dresses all over the world, including America. Some travelers carry them on missions, other dresses and shorts are shipped. I like the free dress pattern on Nancy's Notions, and make the pillowcases by the Hotdog (enclosed french seam) method posted on Quiltbug.com. There are many other free patterns on the web. Adding pockets and lace are great ways to dress them up. I prefer to have the elastic ( I use 1/2") across the top of the front and back, as you have made them. Some patterns thread the straps through a casing there, but it isn't as pretty IMHO since the gathers tend to spread out. Great job- they are such fun to make!
