I use cones all the time. I have A FREE STANDING cone holder made out of metal.(the plastic one are not heavy enough). Some people use a heavy mug and put their cones in that. Just place it behind your machine and you don't need to rewind. I have thread rewound from cone to bobbins and just held the cone loosely in my hand with my fingers in the bottom and then threading the machine like I would wind a bobbin. See what works for you.
