Default I'm home from Basel

I've almost got my clock shifted back to Canada so I thought I might be lucid enough to chat.
We had a great time (though the younger folk don't realize that when they show their elders around it shouldn't be at a force march!!) I DID find the quilt shop suggested by a Swiss member of this board. It was lovely ( but aren't they all.) Their prices were actually comparable to Canadian prices and I couldn't leave without SOME material. I ended up buying some for my step daughter's quilt (still on the planning board) and some landscape pieces I hadn't seen before. I discussed with the owner her shipping costs which are surprisingly reasonable, and though it was fascinating to be a shop that was filling internet orders all around me, I probably won't order. If anyone over the POND is interested the web site is www.cotton-color.com
I included a few pictures. 2 minutes from the shop, up the road, was the German border so my long suffering husband ( thank heavens the shop had comfortable club chairs) couldn't resist the photo op. Basel IS beautiful. My favourite view is along the Rheine showing the multistory buildings with garrets on the garrets. When I visit these European cities it really drives home the idea that there are very few locales in N.Am. with the same sense of history. The last tow pics are iconic of Switzerland and of course we had to go up the Jungfrau. The highest mountain in Europe 3500m. about 12000ft. Just a little hard to breath.
MaryKatherine ps. My Stepson, his girlfriend and her mother (a seamstress) we're very pleased with the quilt.
