Thanks for the links. Now I just need to get brave enough to put the new belt on. The old one is still there but no longer joined and it looks like someone tried to sew it together with thread.
I use cheap waxed dental floss and a large eyed tapestry needle to sew my treadle belts together. I don't have any luck using the staple that comes with the belts. Changing a treadle belt shouldn't be a scary thing, its very simple.

I use 2 clothes pins to hold the belt, so that it doesn't fall down while I'm trying to fit the belt.
