I use cheap waxed dental floss and a large eyed tapestry needle to sew my treadle belts together. I don't have any luck using the staple that comes with the belts. Changing a treadle belt shouldn't be a scary thing, its very simple. http://www.treadleon.net/sewingmachi...eadlebelt.html
I use 2 clothes pins to hold the belt, so that it doesn't fall down while I'm trying to fit the belt.
