second lesson learned.... Putting a lacquer covered piece of iron in the oven for 30 minutes on 150-200 was not ok....
I have a section that got overheated and started to bubble. I cooled it and applied a fresh coat.
I fear the finish will not be "usable" but it should still be a good learning experience. I will sand it down to learn from that process and then, most likely I will have to strip/wheel it clean again and start over.
Sokey, I have learned enough that it will be better and easier.
Oh and it used almost one full can of spray lacquer to do this one small piece.
Truth is I am really not an "A" type. I am quiet in crowds, and prefer to let other be famous... I am however a card carrying member of the ADD club. I took Ritalin as a kid. It was not until I met a Sgt in the Air Force who was also an ADD "sufferer" who was amazing at his job and seemed to know a LOT. He told me that his ADD was not a weakness but an "evolved advantage" that let him learn more faster than others if focused properly. As an example he told me in class he could "listen" and screw around at the same time or he could listen and learn something else at the same time. huge difference in results. I am a knowledge junkie. Thanks William!
