I've not done it this way, but we do eat something similar. We season our baked beans and add bacon. Shred cheese over it and top with canned biscuits. Bake until the biscuits are done. I'm sure the taste would be very similar.
I really don't have a name for our dish either. I got it from my MIL years ago.
