Looks like Sylvia is my machines twin sister! Put a little machine oil on a soft cloth rub on lightly and Sylvia will shine even more beautifully than she does now. I use all kinds of sewing machines since I am a confessed 'Sewing Machine Aholic' but I have to say my treadle is my favorite. It just puts me on plain of tranquility. Maybe it's the fact there is no motor. One funny story of mine is the attempt I made at freemotion quilting on her. I thought my problem was not going fast enough so I kept peddling faster, faster, faster but to no avail. Since Redeye's don't have a reverse it just doesn't happen for me and my legs got pooped! LOL My husband got quite a laugh out of watching my attempt. Use your machine and enjoy her. You are lucky the former owners loved her too and took such good care of Sylvia.
