Definitely use a laminate or something similar. Super easy to dust up the threads and lint from sewing. I have had
both carpet and laminate and there is no contest which is best, as far as I'm concerned. I actually use a Swiffer mop handle and base but cut pad from batting scraps instead of buying the manufactured product. Cheaper, uses the scraps, and performs just as well.
