misspriss, we have occasional scorpions too. The first one I found was what I thought was thread in a decorator bowl, but it moved! My dh stepped on one barefoot in the tiled hallway. He said it stung more than a bee but the pain quickly left. Thankfully, I had just read that week that scorpions found in the U.S. are not poisonous.
Please don't believe that about scorpions. I spend the winter in Ariz. so I hear and read about a lot about them. Some aren't poisonous but others are. You have to learn about them to know the difference. I went to pick up a pc. of yarn off my liv. rm. carpet but at the last min. something stopped me. It was a little scorpion. I stepped on him quite a few times to be sure he wouldn't come around again.
