Thanks to everyone for their advice. We are shopping and comparing like crazy. We've decided to have a foundation that is 12' high -- that will knock our flood insurance down to almost nothing. I like the company we looked at first. They had hurricane straps on the units which are buried in the cement that holds everything in place.

Momsobon, I know about insurance mess. And worse yet, about lawyer mess. The first lawyer/adjuster team we got (referred by a neighbor) was an incompetent idiot. We refused to pay him the balance of what he wanted. He sued us and now we are counter-suing. The new lawyer is wonderful and I think we will come out the other end OK. Eventually.
