I use mine for specialty rulers, rotary cutters and extra blades, extras of other things, and my thread. I love it for my thread because it is shallow so I can lay them on their sides and see the colors. No more picking up the spool a bit to find the right color. I have them sorted by spool size and brand. The bottom drawer is all of my really big spools and cones, and then all of my rayons/embroidery ones, etc.
Be careful with what you put in the drawers. If they are too heavy, then the drawer will fall out of its guides/slots.
Oh, and I put some of the Command Hooks on the sides to hold my larger rulers too.
As far as the chair, go to an office supply store and start sitting. I have a great chair that I purchased from Staples. I would have bought it at any price, but I found it on sale for $79, regular price was $160.
