In spite of the fact that a good friend had mentioned this thread (a very long time ago), I had apparently forgotten, even though I frequent other areas of the QB, until I saw it mentioned in another thread. I purchased a used Pfaff 2170 about 2-3 years ago and since the local dealer won't give lessons (I did offer to pay) I remain absolutely terrified of the embroidery part of the machine. I have never been afraid of anything like this before. I thought that learning about computers was terrifying but it was nothing compared to the Pfaff and I am quite adept with computers now. I thought the book that came with my Pfaff would help me learn but it might as well be written in Greek. I usually am able to follow written instructions but these baffle me as there is no logic to the various aspects of the machine to me even at the machine with book in hand. I am sure some of you must have this machine. I have only the 3D (not the suite...just the basic) and will never spend the outrageous amount of money that it costs to "upgrade" to 4,5,or 6D. I joined the Yahoo group for the machine but since I have only 3D, it is nearly a waste of time since most have 4 or 5D and hardly anything relates to 3D. I like the machine for sewing well enough (but I still like my Bernina 1130 better). I have used the (built in) lettering (which stinks for making quilt labels) once for a quilt label and twice for larger lettering on Christmas stockings. I can't afford something to resize or convert lettering (into satin stitches) to the size needed for quilt labels, my primary reason for buying the machine. Sorting through some program letter by letter doesn't interest me. I should be able to type in what I want on my computer and transfer it to the machine. Unfortunately, the person who sold the machine to me told me I had everything I needed...NOT. What do you folks who have this machine do/use? Embird is not in my budget. I appreciate advice from all but especially those who own this machine. Thanks!
