carolaug--yes I find myself doing the same thing. I'll make random 9P from 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch pieces. Set them aside and then when I have a quick donation quilt to put together I'll take a dozen or so (especially of the little ones) find a common color to tie them all together. They make the cutest little mini's.
