Default For daughter's retiring golf coach

My baby is a junior at University of Texas at Tyler, Texas. She plays on their golf team and they even took SECOND at nationals in their division in May! The men's team took FIRST! One of her coaches has retired. She asked me in the spring if I'd make him a quilt. I called a QS in Tyler and bought the white fabric for the golf teams to sign. The ladies at A Knimble Thimble even cut them into 10" blocks because I knew my daughter didn't have quilting tools...shock...lol. My plan was to trim down the blocks to fit whatever pattern I used, but some girls wrote over the whole block so they stayed at 10"! I showed my daughter many golf fabrics. Her favorite was the fairway print and the scorecard print. I tried to use those two in the most visible way. Hence, they got center and border spots. I chose to do four patches so the cute golf prints would show and I used a thin UoT orange as a border. It's 64" square. Much bigger then I planned when she first asked. I really like it though.

I've unexpectedly been in Idaho helping my sweet MotherInLaw after grandpa suddenly passed in July. I've been here six weeks now but go home to Texas tomorrow. I'm so glad I was able to finish this top. I'll have just enough time to sandwich/quilt/bind before the banquet.

They hold their season banquet at the beginning of each year, not the end. Her beloved coach will be there. I hope they all are pleased.
