I am assuming you are machine couching the bias tape on your quilt, if so -

I followed tips from other members of this board regarding putting the spool of mono thread in a container behind my machine, not on the spindle, then threading it through the normal way. I found this worked for me as long as I carefully checked that the thread had not jumped out of any thread guides as I sewed.

I used this method to machine blanket stitch an appliqued small quilt.
