In our old house, I didn't have room for a plastic mat under my chair. Not wanting to scratch the laminate, I purchased replacement wheels for the swival secretary type chair that had more of a rubber feel than the all plastic wheels. I think I got them at Office Max or some such office store that sells office furniture. They didn't leave marks or scratch the floor.
