I never had success with cutting triangles and points with a template for PP..it seems like you have to think more and be more precise when placing it on the paper and check to make sure it fits and the point is always giving me toruble. I have decided long ago that squares and rectangles is all I need to cut! I measure with a ruler every piece across the longest and widest parts and cut a a square/rectangle to that measurement plus 1/2 to 3/4". Works for me every time. And yes, there is more waste but I do a lot of crumbs and miniature piecing that they are not really waste to me
