Welcome to the board! You can get a nice one at Walmart for under $200. Check the Local quilt shops. I got a Singer for $200.00 about 10 years ago. Take your time. I practiced with new machine doing some small strip quilts with scrap material. You can go to YouTube and search quilting for beginners. I'm not new at it but still enjoy watching the videos. This board is like an encyclopedia of quilting information. Sit back in the morning with your morning Joe and enjoy. Afternoon and evening nice beverages of choice. I like to have a conversation with Bud and/or The Bailey's and enjoy.
