Default my version of Arkansas Crossroads scrappy quilt

Sometime in July, a thread was going that talked about a particular quilt design and what it was called and how it could be constructed (http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...t-t226490.html) It seems to me the most common name is Arkansas crossroads.

I really liked the pattern, and right about that time, we went to a family reunion, where we visited with my husband's niece. She is in her early 40's and has a severe case of RA. She told me that she's always cold ... even on that mid-July day of the reunion, when all of us were panting from the heat, she was cold. So I decided to make her a quilt with that pattern as the base. I tweaked it a bit, to get the smaller "star" among the larger ones. I don't really know her that well, but she was wearing white slacks and a deep blue top that day, so I went with white and blue (But, many of my scraps are purples, so it ended up having a lot of purple.)

I did FMQ for the main part of the quilt, and used a decorative stitch on my machine to do a diagonal cross-hatch in the border. The backing is the same fabric as the border -- it was a 108" wide piece of batik backing fabric. I didn't see the way that the purple stripes show up until after I took the photos and uploaded them to edit. Really, the fabric IS straight! The colors look like a wave..

Finally, I tried to do an "artsy" photo, out in our pasture. Not too bad .... Hope you like it!
