Needle and small sissors are OK to fly with( I fly with a pair that have one inch blades) ... as for actually doing some quilting... some of the seat space makes it very hard. My most receint flight .. one the guy in front of my reclined his seat there was not enough room to use my lap top.

LOL, I had the same issue with a man last time I flew, too...I couldn't even read a book without the seat being in the way...so when they offered me a hot drink I nicely rested it by his head since I couldn't use my tray...laughed with the host about the passenger better hope there wasn't any turbulence. Funny that the seat wasn't reclined anymore after that!
