I spent half of my nursing career working with the mentally and physically challenged. I worked along with a team of professionals to get these individuals integrated into the community and no longer hidden behind the doors and fences of institutions. Now matter the individuals degree of mental ability, there was always something in each and everyone that would just astonish me and give me a glimpse of what was really inside them. I have a very soft spot in my heart for these individuals and advocate for them to have the highest quality of life, whatever that may be.
