Do you have a glue stick? You could rub glue stick on plain typing paper and stick that to the right side of your fabric. I think you could even iron it. Might want to test the ironing on a scrap to see how easily the paper removes afterwards.

Freezer paper can just be peeled off. With glued typing paper, you might need to moisten the paper with water to soften the glue before you can peel the paper off. Might want to test removal too before going all out on the project.

I think Elmer's white washable glue would work too, but might be messier.
