I've always called this method "pillowcasing" and is the method I've always seen used if you want the prairie points to point outward. However, if you want the points to point inward, you would layer and bind in the regular way with the points laying on the top. I've seen quilts done like this where the last border contrasts and really shows the prairie points, plus you have that additional 3-D look of the points.
