Exactly, sulyle. I don't think my mom or grandma ever put borders on their quilts. They also made the back a little larger than the front so they could pull he fabric around to the front for the binding. I am like you, I make a quilt to please me and its recipient. Right now I am doing one with a ribbon pattern border. I like to try something different if it will lend itself to the quilt design.
