You really have to go with your gut when choosing fabrics, but I agree that some that seem "oddball" can end up being the ones that give the quilt the most interest and movement. Without seeing your collection of blues there isn't much advice we can offer except to encourage you to 'trust your instincts'!
I really just wanted to share the absurdity of it all.
Problem is, I get a picture of how I want it to look, in my head . . . and that picture usually involves fabrics which seemingly don't exist. Just finished going through this with a set of mixed prints, which was a heck of a lot easier than blues! Even still, it was a long time before I was satisfied with the combination. I'm only buying about a yard of each fabric, so it's not quite as bad as it sounds!
