Default My turn to ask for opinions....

Someone had asked the name of this pattern and I didn't know...still don't but here are pix of several squares of what I have of the same pattern. The 2 with all the black embroidery were the original quilter's samples. I thought it was a bit too much and couldn't quite decide how to actually finish them differently but I have ended up with the plan of the purple yo yo flower after I did some of the flowers like she had. I definitely will add more details to the clothing, hair, etc, but my question is: which would you commit to? Follow the original samples or try to do it a bit more modern (and easier). Actually, I am not doing any of the boys but wanted to show the quality of the work. This was a collection of 85 squares, all the dresses have some type of lace, rickrack, whatever at the bottom and the one boy has 2 teensy blue appliqued dogs..amazing! All of the fabric is authentic 30's & 40's except for the reproduction strips I have added. Originally, I was thinking 48 blocks but have not gotten it to 35 which would allow me a little more hope of actually finishing it some day. Would you stay with the original plan and not feel guilty or revise it and feel a little guilty?
