I got one from a goodwill last year and I just LOVE it.
Serial Number.
But, I've been getting inconsistent tension issues, even after having taken it to be serviced. Although, before I took it in, I tried to check it out myself and I'm worried I might have done irreparable damage.
I didn't understand how to take off the
plate that hides the coiled tension spring, and I think I ended up bending it a little when trying to pry it open. (I realize how awful all this sounds). Anyhow, doing this I really
mucked up the spring. The repairman replaced it.
But I'm still getting crappy tension on certain fabrics, no matter how much I make the upper tension tighter, it's still getting pulled too the bottom of the fabric. I've adjusted the bobbin tension as well to no avail. Sometimes it works fine, but usually on single layer cotton, something easy.
Its super frustrating. Do you think it could be because I've sort of bent (slightly) the silver plate that covers the tension coil?
