what is the best way to get accurate sides on curtains

If making a long curtain panel, what would be the best way to keep sides, top, and bottom hem the straightest? Do you have any tips on this for me? Like when I turn one of the sides under for whatever measurement it might be, I have trouble keeping this hem the same size all the way acrossed. I even use a hem gauge and still have difficulty sometimes with accuracy. Just checking to see if you have a favorite way you do this.
