I've had many different thread stands over the years. This is the best one I've used. It works for vertical and horizontal cones and spools.

I bought it at Nancy Notions several years ago. Connecting Threads use to sell beautiful metal thread stands. I received one as a gift and it is very nice but not as functional as the Superior one.
