That's a cast iron one, which are the older ones.
After the war Singer in Scotland made them from cast aluminium and they look like my tan one (I thought it looked very "Russian"). AFAIK, by the 1950s they all look like my tan one. I bought a cast iron one last week: It was made in 1936.
