Li hawk the flange and binding will hold no problem mine did. Are you going to use the sewing machine or hand through the flanges seamand joining back binding? If using machine I have found it is easier to tack with a very bright cotton that shows up and sew down the flange side and pray the stitches pick up all the way around .
Now adays I'm lazy and I sew an one inch folded piece all the way round edge then bind as normal it looks far neater when I do it.
